Communities
There are a number of smaller towns within the Salisbury area that you may want to consider moving to. These quaint areas often offer beautiful, historic homes with waterfront vistas while still providing an easy commute to Salisbury, Cambridge, and Ocean City. You’ll find that the convenience of Maryland’s second largest city is only minutes away, but the quality of life and taxes are very different. Do not overlook these towns when you are looking for homes for sale in Salisbury and Wicomico County Maryland.

Some of my favorite towns include:
Sharptown, Maryland is a waterfront community, which borders the shores of the Nanticoke River. It is conveniently located between the metropolitan areas of Salisbury, Maryland, Cambridge, Maryland and Seaford, Delaware. There are 682 residents within the corporate limits. Sharptown has its own beach and park area known as "Cherry Beach", where swimming, boating and picnics can be enjoyed. The volunteer Fire Company is very active in the community and one their main fundraiser is the Sharptown carnival, which is open two weeks in the month of August. There is also a softball field where you can enjoy ball games during the spring and summer months.
Hebron, Maryland is located 5 miles west of Salisbury, Maryland. It is a rural-agriculture community, and there are 682 residents within the corporate limits. The town offers public water and sewer to its residents. The Hebron Volunteer Fire Company is very active and one of its main fundraisers is the Hebron Carnival, which is open 3 weeks during the summer. Also the Lions Club is very active and maintains the sport complex where you can enjoy softball games in the spring and summer and soccer in the fall.
Mardela Springs, Maryland is a small rural town consisting of 450 residents. The town borders the shores of Barren Creek, which is a subsidiary of the Nanticoke River. In the early 1900's the water from the springhouse was bottled and sold, and you are lucky if you can find one of the rare glass bottles which reads "Mardela Springs Mineral Water". The Mardela Springs Volunteer Fire Company is very active in the community, and the town offers a ball park and play ground where in the summer you can enjoy softball games and in the fall soccer.
Nanticoke, Bivalve, and Tyaskin, Maryland are all waterfront communities, which border the Nanticoke River. Cedar Hill park and Marina is located in Bivalve, and it offers tennis courts, softball field, picnic area, and the marina. The Great American Turtle Race is sponsored by the Westside Volunteer Fire Company, and is held in August and is one the fire company's main fundraisers.
Whitehave, Maryland, is a small quaint village that borders the Wicomico River. It dates back to 1685, and the main street through Whitehaven is waterfront. The Whitehaven Ferry runs almost every day, depending on weather and the tide, takes passengers from Wicomico County banks to Somerset County banks. Whether visiting our area or living here, this is a neat place to visit or live.
